  Fair do's.

A 16V MK2 is just about within my financial grasp (insurance is lower than 16V MK3)

So I either would like that gorgeous MK3 8V or a tidy 16V MK2 I reckon.

Quick question. I'm used to a MK2 8V, completely standard exhaust etc. Will I notice much of a difference going to an 8V MK3?

It will be lovely and comfortable and reliable!

But it will feel lardy and slow  :undecided:

Where you based? You can have a raz round in mine if you want!

Right I'm on the lookout for a 16V MK2. Always wanted a valver. If anyone knows of any good ones for sale, please reply because I'm getting desperate now lol. My car is dissapearing next week, and it pains me to do it. I'm viewing a MK3 8V tomorow, whch looks ace. I'll have to see what it drives like though as I've never driven a MK3 and everyone keeps on saying "steer clear of the 8V"

If anyone could list the stats of the MK2 8V and the MK3 8V It'd be much appreciated. Had a quick check on google, but at work so can't really.

Cheers guys!

It's alright, lol - I found the specs... on this website!

Mk2 1.8 8v 112 9.0 115

Mk2 1.8 16v 139 8.0 124

Mk3 2.0 8v 115 10.1 124

Mk3 2.0 16v 150 8.5 134

Mk3 2.8 VR6 174 7.1 138

Hmm, can I get insured on a VR6 I wonder....

Is there anything wrong with leaving the engine in the seat in the first place?

If it's a rotten old MOT fail then yes.

They seem to dissolve a lot faster than Golf2s, but I doubt they go any faster than a Golf2, given all the safety equipment larded into them.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.
