Hi all,
I’ve just bought my first Golf, a 3-door Mk5 GTI 2.0T which - all being well - I’ll be picking up on Friday.
It’s been a long road to get to this point. I’ve been looking for a fun car for about a year now and have seriously looked at Type R’s, SLK’s and Boxsters. I eventually decided on the Mk5 as it’s a great drive but can also be used.... as a car.

I work in the motor trade and have a good relationship with my local VW guys, so when this 2007 car with low mileage, good history and good order came in, the negotiations began.
There were only three niggles with it. The passenger door had a crease close to the edge where it had opened against something, two of the alloys had some minor kerbing and the wall of the driver seat was a bit past its best.
This week, I refurbed the two wheels (more of that in a minute), my PDR man removed the crease from the door and the seat wall is currently being repaired and recovered. I’ve got a good valeter prepping the car for me, which will hopefully be ready for Friday afternoon (when I will no doubt do it all again). A full service, MOT, two new tyres and we'll be ready to rock and roll.
While I know next to nothing about Golf’s (other than what I’ve read on your excellent forum), I do run a successful mobile car body repairs business, so hopefully I’ll be able to help out on paint and bodywork related questions.
Cheers
