im still not sure what you mean, i really dont know a great deal about cars

if the spring cap is the bit that sits against the spring then I already have them as theyre part of the mounts arnt they? on my new mounts which are golf mk2 ones, but as i said, theyre too small for the spring....

No, the spring cap is a piece of pressed metal.

It bolts down on the strut first, then the top mount goes on.

ah ok, so i need spring caps as well as mounts, gotcha, thankies

Remove old strut assembly, place side by side next to new bits and make sure they're the same before re-assembly.

Saves making a tit of yourself and doing the job more than once.

Remember to get the front end properly set up once you've done the job.
