im still not sure what you mean, i really dont know a great deal about cars

if the spring cap is the bit that sits against the spring then I already have them as theyre part of the mounts arnt they? on my new mounts which are golf mk2 ones, but as i said, theyre too small for the spring....  :undecided:

No, the spring cap is a piece of pressed metal.

It bolts down on the strut first, then the top mount goes on.

Remove old strut assembly, place side by side next to new bits and make sure they're the same before re-assembly.

Saves making a tit of yourself and doing the job more than once.

Remember to get the front end properly set up once you've done the job.
