Hi all

Well, took delivery of my gti yesterday. Living in Aus (was UK) and managed to get a fairly good deal i reckon! Managed to get the DSG half price, upgrade to five door free and all onroads included (can be 3k ish in Aus!!)  I haggled the Monza shadows off the demo they had at the dealers as well as the only CW they had available was on 17's and they just do not look right IMO.

Went to pick up the car - no Monzas on it!!! They had sold the demo and the guy insisted it was no deal without them. Anyhow the dealer is a good bloke so i didn't kick off too much of a fuss. He said "just use the wheels that are on it and when you come back at 1500km for a free check over we'll fit you the Monzas" (on order) if you could take it easy on the tyres in the meantime we'd appreciate it!!"  Haha yep fine with me....

so, enjoying the car very much and i'm definitely testing those levels of grips round the corners a little more than if they were my own tyres

I have owned some pretty decent cars in the past (TT, M3, Cooper s) and i have to say this car really doesn't feel too shabby at all compared to them. Handling is fantastic!! And power is pretty good too in the real world.

Really nice place to be sat in with the cloth seats and the THAT steerring wheel! Gave it2 coats od jetseal 109 and 2 coats of CG 5050 and it is looking sparkling. Gives off some serious glare under the aussie sun i tell ya!!

Welcome to the forum.

thanks all! 'on road cost' in Aus includes rego (road tax), stampy duty, GST (vat), fuel and dealer delivery. The dealer delivery charge was $2,600 alone... tis a joke!

no offence meant but i can't wait to get the Monzas on as i reckon it looks a bit too 'standard' golf without - although i think  i can detect a slight difference in ride quality improvement with the 17's compared to my test drive?

stupot: Welcome and congrats.
So you are from Oz. Nice.
18" wheels a must for the looks. Not much affect on the ride especially if you have ACC/DCC.
Regarding the Monza Shadows, they look great, but they are a pig to repair if you kerb them.

Cheers! haven't got the ACC as really couldn't tell the difference on the test drive (prob didn't have enough time?). I will be doing my best not to kerb the monzas when they come but the missus is bloody useless at parallel parking- get's out to let me do it for her:shocked:. Will get some jetseal on them too. Maybe they'll fare a bit better over here as we don't have none of that salt crap on the roads here in QLD!! (originally from Derby)
