My Mk2 Has no brakes! how does it stop?
« on: 15 December 2004, 16:07 »
Today on my way home, my brake pedal carried on sinking to the floor, til only the last inch I had a little bit of stopping power

Dear me I thought, I now cannot stop myself doing 60 on this bypass!!!  & some of you might not belive this but my handbrake managed to slow me down (A MK2 handbrake working, I hear you cry)

I was only swapping my water pump this Sunday, now after checking my brakes out I now have to swap my Master cylinder

But even after all this I cannot get rid of the old girl, mainly cos there is nothing like the feel of showing up 2.0 Focus's with a 20 year old car  long live my K-Jet

i had a bolt fall out on my g60 calipers and that was pretty scary, you couldn't brake without the caliper being pulled into the disc and causing all kinds of nasty things to happen! so i drove home about 30 miles without braking til i got to my house! i was quite pleased with myself! bit scary at times though, trying to time traffic on the four roundabouts so i could just slip between the cars with out slowing/stopping!

was goin 2 inters this year bout 130 miles each way 4 me n got 2mils frm home n booted it off a roundabout.
and when u booted it hard it pulled like mad 2 the left, neway that was fri dinner time,
on sunday nite then i got home, and about 350miles later i had a look, n the wish bone bolt was hangin out!!!!!!!!!!
it had riped the freds off lucky i was brakin 1 at the time n the bolt in that 1 was a bit longer so it was fine again, if not the sub frame would hav 2 hav been changed.

only could u do that in a vw
