Well,having already owned a Mk2 i know how good they are.Mine would only be a weekend fun thing,for me to enjoy and show off.I think the Mk3 is more of a family car not a play thing.

Luckily i have a works van so weekends and holidays would be the only time i would use it.Just need to get my hands on a decent one now  :smiley:.

I've owned both a Mk2 16v GTI and a Mk3 16v GTI (as well as normal models of each), and I would say, if you want comfort and a more modern look, go for the Mk3, but if you want fun get the Mk2. It's much lighter, handles better, you're more connected to the road, it's just more enjoyable.
