Electric Window Snapping/crackling sound
« on: 04 June 2010, 16:54 »
Basically i have just been totally boned by my mk3 as the passenger side window just decided to stop moving when it was half way down.

It made a cracking/snapping sound when it happened and when i now try open the window via the switch, it makes this crunching sound and has ceased totally.

Any ideas on what i need to replace to get it working again?

cheers

Cable probly gone PING!    veedubmachine.co.uk sell the mech on its own for just under £25 you fit your own motor.  Highly recomended as they are well made too! but no use if your motor is the problem,  strip it out its not difficult, disconnect the glass from the mech and peg it up then see whats happened.

If you are changing the mechanism be sure to put something soft on the lip on the bottom of the door as its razor sharp and when i did mine i nearly cut my little finger off! (an im not joking)

Gsf or eurocarparts do them for 60 odd quid buy the more expensive version and the quality should be pretty good, the cheaper version they sell is cheap crap and will take longer to fit and prob not work properly
