I will admit the only reason i went GTI was i wanted another GTI to go with the mk1. Sad reason really, my hart ruled my head just

Your not the only one

I have a Mk2 GTI that I restored from this: -

This made me feel more compled to buy another GTI when my Mk5 needed replacing

Don't ask... Was almost there  but cancelled due to loosing my job.  Ironically, had VW delivered when they promised to (circa Nov 2009) then I'd probably still have it now.  I still enjoy the banter and for keeping up to date with developments (from my arm chair for the time being).

I followed a white GTD home a few months ago, it turned off into a street just round the corner from me.  The owner had debadged it, but I knew what it was from the exhaust placement on the rear.

My mate phoned me the other day to say that he was doing a job round the corner and had just spotted his first Golf R.

"It looks just like your's except for the R badge on the grill"

I got my mate to take a look at the steering wheel - "It's got GTD on it" he says

I laughed!

Simply brilliant! Silly sod.
He should be proud he has a GTD. But I hope he had DSG with it.

Snoopy what are these additives you were talking about?

I think he was talking about the adBlue stuff they have to fit to meet the American emissions standards...

The DPFs over here just incinerate the soot I think.

nothing bad to say about the GTD... but getting a very respectable 41mpg on a 400mile round trip this weekend, I dont really see the point of a GTD for myself.
