VW are one of the last to go over to CR. It's an issue on most diesels that do short distance. CR or not

Not the case on the mk6, you don't need to be clearing any filter!! Belive me I looked into this before I bought the car

Whether you like it or not you have a DPF.

Well, I never..... So much discussion on a supposedly 'bland' car and completely off topic. Scare mongers. They had to pick on something. Strange that.

PS: I'm going to make my red GTi 'bland' by changing the red front grille bars to chrome.

PPS: On second thought, I'll keep one red and change one to chrome. Top or bottom?

I don't think anyone said you have to clean the filter. The car does it every so often itself by injecting a solution (Im still not going to say what it is  ) BUT certain conditions need to be met before and during this procedure so the DPF self clears as said on the AA page i linked too to help explain it better and a get out of jail free version by VW thats stated in the manual, in my 2010 GTD/GTI manual anyway.

As you know i like the GTD alot so im not scare mongering im pointing out things owners should know. If you want to know the real reason VW were last to go over to common rail. Do a search on who own the paterns for common rail technologies and licience it out (not by wikipedia as its wrong  ) Then do a search for the court case on narrow angle V engine copyrights.

I know you were not, so sorry it appeared that way. If it seemed that I was targeting you in particular, please accept my apologies. I promise I was not.
Just have to give justifiable support to our GTD friends as they take so much stick from GTi owners.
I really love the GTD+DSG. Marvellous car.

Off to wash Wolfgang but had to respond to you! Very important to do so!
