I'm sure the GTD's a cracking car but I didn't buy one
(a) because it's a diesel and, therefore, is a tractor (the wife's car is a diesel so I do know!!!)
(b) because I was having a mid-life crisis and a GTD just doesn't pull the heart strings like a GTi does
(c) the two GT TDi Mk4s I had were the most unreliable cars I've ever owned. By a country mile. So I'm very very suspicious of VW diesels
(d) and, er, the GTD didn't turn up at the dealers until the time I was picking my GTi up last July. So I couldn't have bought one anyway.

Suffice to say I have absolutely NO regrets whatsoever about buying the GTi, despite my doing a 60 mile a day commute.

I like the GTD, I just dont like the smog. But as a car it really should be a petrol, oh yeah, it would be a GTI then
There is no smog at all , its just so clean, infact its cleaner than a GTI

It probably is  I'm detailing mine again tomorrow, its a little dirty b!tch right now.

Steve: Even though I have a GTi, in the real world the GTD+DSG is superb and rules. I have driven one and I loved it.
Petrol in London, pah!

He's right. GTD+ dsg is a superb package. Will hold its value very well in the coming years and will be quite sort after.

Just ignore the trolls. Most of them are probably unaware that petrol and diesel both come out of the same hole in the ground.
