strut top

when my car is parked on the level with the bonnet open why is one strut top tight against the car and the other side has about 1/2 inch gap i have changed both strut top mounts in the last 3 months and all the suspension any ideas please

i would like to know the same. i think from reading somewhere it is a sign of a knackered strut top though. but would like confirmation

mate thats impossible as both have been changed twice how should it sit closed (no gap) or small gap

Should be no gap, a gap means a worn top mount or bearing or assemblied wrong.

may have also been over tightened and crushed the bearing

there should be a 1cm gap and when you turn you wheel the gap increses or decreases, i was told this when at VW
