Mk1 Dash Lights....

Hey Peeps, im restoring an early mk1 GTi binnacle, and im wanting to change the dash bulbs to a bright white. Now looking at the dash kits out there, they say mk1 bulbs are the same as mk2 and mk3, but they are simply not lol.

Has anyone changed theres to the LED type...and if so who did you use to get the LED ?

i found the leds on ebay do not fit they are too small to sit right in the holes both for series 2 dash and mk2 clocks.
what you may try is trying to get the led bulbs to fit the vw bulb holders but you must have the resistors on the bulbs as well. i tried and gave up as it was too much faffing about
