Good call - a GTI for xmas is just amazing - make sure u write to santa to say thanks ;)

As Blue said most GTI's will have and alarm and / or Immobiliser on already, the bit you need to pay attention too is does it have the installation certificate to go with it. Without that most insurance companies don't give a flying f**k what u say u have !!

If it's a modern alarm then u can pay a few quid to have it checked and another one issued, but if it's too old (like mine even thought it's CAT1) you can't and u're in for a new alarm.

Either way a basic CAT1 system can be installed for around ?200 ...

What I did was say I had it and stalled having a new alarm installed for a few months and sent the certifficate of then. Only thing is your not covered against theft till u do!

mine came with a sparkrite :P i dont think that counts does it altho for insurance i paid ?30 for a cat 2 which is just an immobiliser, and when i had some more cash i did car 2 to 1 upgrade all cobra and clifford systems can do this. but save money in the long run make sure one is fitted and that you get the cert.

no such thing as a good insurance company, all they want to do is take your money never wanna pay out even when its simple like a theft.

took me 6 months to get E-sure to sort my ice out after it was stolen and even then i got screwed.

old system was kenwood mask with keycode and 6 disc changer, 4 channel amp and a sub enclosure with built in amp(was a monster :D)

replacement panasonic mp3 head with 19 disc changer, 2 channel amp and a sub + sub box.

took me 6 months to get it sorted and in the end instead of fiting what they where suppose to they gave me the differnce in money of ?400 as i had all the boxs and receipts from the old stuff they couldnt much complain also the face was left behind although my dad didnt remove it just turned it over they dropped it even tho it was stiill need the key fob to activate it and i had taken the disc tray out the night before to put some new cd's in so that was empty so doubt them thiefing chavs got much for it.
