Agu tune up!!
« on: 28 May 2010, 21:02 »
I've got a Mk4 Gti running the early 150bhp AGU engine. Looking to push it up to around 300 bhp. Anyone know what the best way to achieve this and what I'll have to do?

Garrett turbo and custom manifold and exhaust, 3'' MAF, larger injectors, higher power fuel pressure regulator, custom remap, updated fuel pump and a bucket full of cash that you'll never see again on resale. Probably lots more thereafter for weak parts

How come? It's do-able off 3grand..... Just not worth spending that sorta cash to achieve power possible in a different car straight outta the box that handles well enough to cope with double the power it was originally designed for. Might as well buy an m3 and enjoy 300 bhp rather than just spin spin spin, end of 4th then a bit of 5th. IMO anyway, unless you do it with a 4mo's drivetrain or do a rear wheel drive conversion

Sell your AGU and buy a 250-300 bhp car according to your budget and start there.  Cheaper, safer and simpler
Around 230 is achievable for an AGU with or without suspension and brake upgrades.

Evo's do look like a ripspeed ram raid but their like that for a purpose..... I still think their w@nk on normal roads, they take the fun outta driving as they drive themselves pretty much. Only a mug or a nutter can lose an evo
