Dealer price, whats the real price
« on: 28 May 2010, 16:08 »
I went down to VW monday to grab some parts for the gf's polo and saw a nice looking 3 door mk5 gti in black, ive been looking for one for a while in a dealer on and off and decided now is the time.

It was up at £14,992 on monday. Now today i went down on the way back from work and its up at £15,995! Same car and reg.

The car isnt that spec'd up either i dont think from what i know on mk5s.

Ive looked up on one of those valuation sites and it says its worth £13k dealer price.

I know you can get them cheaper private, but i need finance swapping.

So what is this worth and do you think i have a hope in hell of getting them down from 15995 to a fair price?

Its a 57 plate black 3 door gti.
33k miles
Cloth interior
Standard alloys by the looks of it, monza look but not polished metal, more of a grey.
CD player with NO wheel controls as far as i could see?!?! wtff
manual not dsg
climate controll
rain sensors

They are the most notable things.

What you think i should be paying for that out of a VW dealer.... I certainly aint paying nearly 16k!

Based on a 07, 57.

Original Price £20,607
Franchised Dealer £15,120
Independent Dealer £14,540
Private Good  £13,670
Private Poor  £11,215
Part Exchange £12,365

I would say somewhere around £14000 is bang on the money to be honest.

As a guide:

Hmmm interesting. So it definetly needs to come down sub 14k really.

Where did you get those prices wayne? It is a franchised dealer but it is still very steep!

The only thing I would say is that you will get excellent back up from a main dealer but it is still overpriced.

Yeah, its very much over priced but also a very cool car

Will probably go down there tomo and try and get some sort of reasonable deal.

Even if they are a franchised dealer i think it needs to come down to £14500. lol
