« on: 12 December 2004, 18:22 »
My kr 16v seems to be idling high at about 1100 rpm?? Has done this in the past but used to drop down, what should the idle speed be??

Mine always takes a few second to go down.

I let my mate drive it the other day and he noticed it, I guess I've just got used to it.

Veedubgti16v,

At the moment I've actually got less power and nothing really until she hits 3,000rpm (about 7lbft til 6,000rpm where I've got slightly more).

I've been told (& hope) after a recent post on this forum that it just needs setting up properly. I did have it on the rollers recently but they didn't really have any knowledge of my engine. With xmas and new years, I've run out of money so this is going to have to wait until next year when I can take it to a vw specialist like Stealth racing.

take the idle screw out and clean it up also. and replace the o-rings on the screw also.

ISV's very rarely fail (common misconception)

a proper working ISV will let the revs fall slowly to idle. instead of just plummeting like it will do if you drive it with the ISV disconnected

16vs were always notorisiously bad at idling at 800-950 anyway (bad=rough), so whilst 1100 is high, at least they idle smoothly. mine is set at 1100.
