Where talent bucket = 1
Ambition = 1.5
Speed = >1

Result = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdGzy2Lun2I

2nd lap out, trying to make 10 minutes on the lap (as idiots do).

Brunnchen 2 tightens on exit, as this moron now knows.

There was a corking thread on the VXR forum, but they've deleted it, boo!

He has put up a series of photos showing how the yard weren't kind to it once it was recovered from the track:

Boo hoo.  Scrap is still worth the same.

I like the 'ring.  It demonstrates attempted Darwinism very well.

Luckily for him it seems he's stationed in Germany, on German insurance and is covered for it.

I was surprised it hadn't been posted on here earlier, so thought I should share for the more shielded users (Shady)

I went to the Ring last year with with some guys from T5.D5.com, did my 1st lap in the damp in an M3 with R888's and started sliding at one point where it was very slippery under the trees at that point i slowed up a  little and and a german M3 came flying past me, as i got round the next corner he was facing me sliding backwards along the grass :rolleyes:. Next couple of corners and an Alfa had glansed off the barriers with bits of door mirror and bumper all over the place :rolleyes: One of the guys in our group who had been their before wrote his car off on exactly the same bend as that Astra but he ended up hitting the inside barrier opposite the gravel and that was on his 1st lap !! 1500 euro bill :rolleyes: I did 4 laps and got quicker after everyone with 9.43 on my last one but called it a day as i wanted to enjoy myself and get the car back in one piece ! I went out with one of the other guys who has done well over 100 laps and he was going round in 8.10 -8.20 in traffic i don't know how they do it !

'they' do it with experience.

With just under 100 laps under my belt I was lapping just under 9minutes in April in my dodgy old Golf, albeit in the relative safety of a track day.

Best not to bother timing your laps until you actually know where the track goes IMO.  Timing = buying armco if you don't know what you're doing.  Your M3 wasn't sliding because it was wet, it was sliding (presumably unintentionally) because you didn't know where the track went, or where it would be wet, because there are certain points that always dry out slowly.

09:43 really isn't anything to brag about in an M3 on 888s.  I'd keep quiet about that if I were you.  Mid eight minutes and it might start to be worth mentioning :wink:

With around 20 laps chalked up Hurdy was lapping under 8 minutes in his Golf*.

*warning, Golf may contain modifications and nuts.

I wasn't bragging about my lap time at the Ring, as i said a couple of the guys i were with were going round in about 8.15 ish in Volvo 850 T5's ! My passenger knew the Ring very well so i did know where the track went as he was sitting next to me telling me. I went there to enjoy the Ring and enjoy the long weekend away not to go mad and right my car off !
