Hello i have just undertaken a dash swap, firstly the car is a 1990 (90spec) mk2 1.8gl auto, the dash fitted is a seat ibiza 2.0l 16v gti dash (basically the same as 6n polo ect..
all is fine after lots of hard work ect however i have a problem with the rev counter
It is inacurate basically on tickover it reads about 2.5k and when revved it shoots of the scale,
The pin location in the loom from the clocks to the fuse box is the same, and it is the green wire, and the fuse boxes are the same ect ect...
My thinking is that on my mk2 golf it runs a standard bosch cylindrical coil with the seperate ignition module but on the seat ibiza polo 6n golf mk3s ect they all run the square type coil i was wondering if that is why the rev counter is inacurate?? maybe something to do with resistance? as its basically a negative square wave.
I did also try bypassing the fusebox and run a wire direct to the neg side of my coil but made no diffrence.
anyone got any ideas or had this problem???

any help much apreciated matt.
