Weber carb help!!!!!!!!! Close to tears kinda stuff...

Right I'll get straight to the point, I've been tinkering with my 1.3 mk2 Golf just making her run as sweet as a dream. Had some issues with carburation put it down to just needing a drive well it gradually got worse and I've now decided to clean the carb.

One thing led to another and I ended up with a Twin Choke Webber carb that was supposedly off a 1.3 golf originally so I presumed it would bolt straight on. How wrong I was... I haven't paid my mate for the carb yet as I want to hear her running on the carb 1st before paying ££ for it.

The problem I found upon removing the carb was the inlet is completely different,not even similar kinda thing. I was wondering if anyone has come across this before or knows about a different manifold available on the market that allows you to fit a Twin choke to the 1.3 golf.

Any help would be much appreciated as no-one I speak to seems to know anything about running a twin choke on these cars which has come as a bit of a surprise to me as I'm pretty sure they have ran them on these cars before and the guy I got it of said he runs one on his Rocco...

I'd love to go around and gut his car but before I get to this stage I was hoping someone on here would pipe up and show me the light at the end of the tunnel or who has fitted a Twin Choke before.

Not sure if inlet manifolds are different or if you use some kinda adaptor, does this carb look like yours? Also the bits that come with it

Errr, you have a carb for a 1.6 or a 1.8 engine which is a totally different engine to the 1.3.

So the guy who supposedly removed it off a 1.3 Golf is having my mate on?


The picture of the carb I have is very similer but the code is actually different...

As DH said 32/34 is 1.6 and 1.8

there is an adaptor that has to do between the base of the carb and manifold to make it work.

there is a 32/34 for the 1300 dut it's not normaly a dmtl but a dmtr.   they are almost identical well look identical

What i'm trying to conclude is wether this carb would do the job or not... Wether a manifold is available on the market or not for my 1.3 Golf.

You should be able to use the standard manifold.

The carb manifold does not match the car manifold. I could happily make a manifold outa alloy but wouldn't want to waste my time doing this only to find out it won't work...

Has anyone ever fitted a twin choke weber to a 1.3 golf? 

Wayne are you suggesting retain the original manifold and make an adapter to replace the rubber one to match my Weber carb?

Sort of yes but needs to be rubber.
