Could be wrong but guessing that 69 indicated on the speedo is nearer 66 mph. My speedo in the GTD over reads by around 3 mph based on TomTom.

Most speedo dials are a couple of MPH lower than the GPS speed.  Its to give you a little more tollerance for speed cameras, and also to allow for your tyres wearing.

Right guys I drove from Motherwell today to Le Mans in preparation for this weekends race.

Got from Motherwell to Dover on a single tank. That's around 500 miles. Average speed was around 60 mph with some average 50mph sections and a couple of blasts to make up for the average 50mph sections

And strangely enough I had a thought... let me know what you think.

All the unemployed people in the UK generally have nothing to do right... well instead of just giving them a handout... they should be given the money in exchange for some community work. If all the unemployed people went out to do a couple of hours a week helping at roadworks then we would cut down on unemployment and on roadworks....

Posted this in the diesel topic so figured I'd post a copy here too for the petrol believers:

My car runs on special diesel. It's a bit more refined. I think the name is petrol or something.

Anyway I got 525 miles out my tank from full to empty. There was nothing left in the tank as I pulled into the station. During my journey I averaged 65 ish with one blast up to 135 kmph

I know we have a bit of rivalry between diesel and petrol but my car is putting out 270 bhp and 300 lbs of torque. I'm getting maybe 70% of the mpg that a 170 bhp diesel gets. The diesel is putting out about 65% of the power of my car? When looked at that way I'd say the GTI is still a pretty good car for the performance.

And if you want to argue with that go look at a Focus RS owner's mpg claims... yet the GTI can match that thing for pace.
