The Rileys in bits but its the most fun car i currently own imo. You can drive it at legal speeds and have a huge grin factor. It has such direct steering, light weight and is so direct like a gokart. So much connection and comunication to the driver but thats old minis for you. Non of this modern technology that disconnects you from the driving experience and computers to get you out of trouble that leave you cold.

The last fun car I owned was a Peugeot 306 GTi 6 which I wrote-off on the A40 in London. God, the airbags were bloody loud when they deployed and I broke two front teeth! It caused an 8 mile tailback, was on all the news channels and I did not have to go to work that day. Went straight to my Dentist and got my coconut-scrapers beautifully fixed! My already perfect smile had improved considerably!
Those were the days when men were men and cars were nearly more fun than sex!

Golf R all day for me. It has the k04 bolted to it, and coupled to a 4wd system, Even with a remap on a GTi, do the same just by one stage, you have an absolute weapon in the R. The same comparrison between k03 mk5 and Edition30 with the k04 turbo.

It take just £400 to transform a GTi to better performance. But do the same for the same ammount of money on the R, and you have a properly fast car that most things on the road would find it hard to live with.

Power is no good without Traction. Something my Stage 2 Edition30 needs!!.

Exclusivity is another + on the R. Because they are priced high, not as many being ordered, but im sure will help 2nd hand values later on.

I have not had a chance to look at the R forum, but I am sure they are not so derogatory towards GTis.
They know they have got the fastest VW in wet and dry!
Let's admit it: It is a fabulous car, 'engineered by a genius priced by a bafoon', has a tiny boot and I love it to bits!
