back in the workshop last night. fitted the rear bumper although you can still see where it has had an impact so it is a temporary measure.

bonded the o/s/r arch trim on. that was a right pain to do and a really messy job. really not looking forward to the other three now.

On a more critical note we replaced the steering rack. we were just going to do the rack ends but you cant get to them withoud removing the bottom arms so we decided to swap the whole thing, especially when we checked and found the replacement one is a VW one.

anyway, old rack came out relatively easily but the new one was a right old pain in the ass. pleased i wasnt doing it on my drive.

My mechanic mate is fitting new track rod ends todaythen taking it for wheel alignment for me.

So by the end of today it will actually drive in a straight line with both wheels pointing in the same direction. As it is the n/s/f tyre is screaming all the time. when the steering wheel is centered one wheel is straight ahead, the other is noticeably on the piss.

Starting to realise you get what you pay for with paintwork. I noticed 7 inperfections in just 1 panel! i have stopped looking now.  At the end of the day i wanted to turn a £200 wrecker into a "tidy" car and i think i am on the way to doing that. All in the car owes me way less than £800 and from a metre away the paint is smooth and shiney. if i wanted perfection then i would have paid £2000 and then been scared to drive the car anywhere!

hopefully tomorrow night i will have pictures of the car in full trim and dare i say it, finished (for now )

Thankls guys, really appreciate your support. Expected a bit of a put down to be honest but it feels good to have resurected something that is being appreciated. hope that doesnt sound too soppy!

bit of a hold up yesterday as my car couldnt be collected from its wheel alignment on time so i have not had chance to sort the front bumper or arches. really frustrating.

also discovered the all singing, all dancing four wheel alignment is actually 2 wheel alignment as there's no adjustment on the rear (d'oh) and they charge extra to set the camber "its a really big job"

I prefered it when you first got it with all that shizzle hanging off the front!............

...............not really, cracking work, looks mint.. you still considering getting some kind of subtle skirts for it?
