Not really investigated yet.

I'm not 100 percent about keeping this car so going to hold off engine swap till i'm a  little more secure about its future.

She's dead!

My mate crashed his car so i lent him mine so he can get to work. Went to pick it up today and it won't start. Bugger.

No idea what it is but i'm sure we'll sort it soon enough. Tried to jump start it but it didn't even try. Engine bay smells a bit petrolly so assume its getting fuel. Will confirm and check for spark in next few days. Poor thing.

That sucks.... Are you getting power to lights with ignition on? If so, have you tried turning key with lights on, do they dim?

Dead Starter? Not got frozen coolant have you!?

Coolant is ok- was replaced a couple of weeks ago.

I've got power to the starter and it's cranking over a good one, just not firing. Still not done anything to investigate further- will have a ride over to it tomorrow and check for fuel and spark.

After a few minutes cranking the engine bay did smell of petrol so assume we flooded it- assume its got fuel and no spark.

Hope that's the case, if its got fuel and spark then its serious!

I see, when you said it wasn't even trying I thought you meant it wasn't turning over....  sounds like spark issue then... hopefully something simple like a dead coil...

Fingers crossed.

If it goes it'll be for cash flow reasons so i'd be carless for a bit.

Would get another cheap mk2 gti or diesel when funds allowed
