front brake discs - a few little ridges

Is it normal for brake discs to have a few minor ridges on them?. Noticed both my fronts have some, but the two rears are almost perfectly smooth. No vibrations when braking or anything, but just wondered why?

Probably short trips. Yes it can happen especially if VW are still using soft discs like they use too.
