ABT Tuning
« on: 06 May 2010, 14:41 »
On request....

For those who missed the plot from the beginning....

My car was delivered without PDC...
Dealer is taking care off the PDC in the back...... today ....front is not possible as aftermarket.....
To end on a happy note...they are also tuning my car as a compensation....today...actually it is ready as I type...

It is a ABT tuning ...and looks promising on paper....260 BHP...

Keep you informed

Okay just got home....

First of all the only and only and only difference is a small square stamp of ABT in your service booklet filled out with dealer number, your kilometers and a  few other numbers....(so no certificates any-longer) you get the keys and away you are.....

I was immediately into a congestion (traffic jam) and the first kilometers I kept wondering will I feel the difference....so far nothing...and the same sound...hell...everything was the same. :undecided:

I was in the "D" mode while suddenly there was a gap in front of me a couple of a hunderd meters so I floored it (engine warm).....O My God.....different ball game....totally unexpected ( I ve been doing this trick already more than a month ) I got severely pushed into the leather...

The DSG is far better now meaning you cannot tell (that was already very hard) when it switches it becomes incredibly fluid!!!!

I think the biggest compliment you can give to this 2.0 TFSI Engine is the fact that your grandma is able to steer it thru heavy traffic in the city like any other car....that is unless she floors it....all hell will break loose ...even to the experienced younger driver....

This is addiction in capitals...all the way home despite slow traffic I drove incredibly slower only to accelerate as a madman....

I picked up my wife and went on B-roads.....time to use "S "

I kid you not but my wife screamed like hell when I floored it (and she is used to that little indulgence) she saw the bonnet coming up just a little and started shouting the car cannot flip over can it......

The drive is incredible the engine breaths better, picks up better, you name it it is like you bought a new engine in your toys for boys.....

It is a real no-brainer if you have the money because for 1400 euro you bought yourself a new car again.....honestly I cannot supress my enthousiasm and that is an achievement because I am negatively biased because of the forgotten PDC which btw they mounted also today... :lipsrsealed:

Forget the stamp or other proof you start driving the thing and you have got yourself a poor man's Ferarri....

Love your write-up Erik. Full of emotion and passion by your wife's reaction! Imagine what she will be like in Germany!
Brastards! I am so jealous!
Have to re-map. Which one, I have yet to decide. Probably Bluefin by Superchips as it is good and cheap as I am tight and like the idea of removing it or re-installing it myself! Bugger the extra insurance.
750 miles done so far. 750 miles to go. Can't wait as I find the car a bit sedate for my taste.
I want to drive something a bit more mental like myself! I said it first!

I know this is Erik's thread, sorry Erik, but is Bluefin really good and easy to install?

Eric, my car was the first one remapped here in the UK by Revo (so the Revo map they sell is based on my actual car) and they measured my car at 220 standard and 275 remapped. Whatever the numbers, the map makes it a totally different car, much more enjoyable and a proper performance car. Welcome to the club!
