is your PC wired or wireless slick ?

cos your x box is wired if i remember from last night ?

if it is it might be worth a new ethernet cable just to rule that out ?

Aye it's wired, don't trust wireless ironically for gaming. I'll swap some cables around when I get in, but I cannot see why it would suddenly have broken down. Still, stranger things have happened. Just need to dig a cable out now.

I used to be wired with my old 360 but I bought a new style 360 not long ago, with the N wireless adaptor built in, along with the N BT Homehub and I've never had a problem. I know it's each to their own though.

What was your ping coming through as?

And if it isn't the ethernet cable then maybe it's to do with Black Ops and the way it runs online (we are awaiting another patch).

I can't remember off the top of my head. I'll have another check when I get in tonight.

Mine is one of the older 2nd gen ones (the white job with a hdmi port on it) so no doubt within the next 12 months I'll get another as my warrenty on this one runs out soon, and it will probably break.

Okay, well check you ping, as that could be a deciding factor with a game like Black Ops. If that is good and it's not the cable, just go wirelss.

Slick, I had very similar issues to you.

My internet was working fine, could download things at silly speeds but when playing games it would lag and be crap. To some extent I still get some issues but what it ended up being was too much noise in my downstream cable from my ISP. Spoke to Virgin Media who did some checks and idetified that I had too much noise. A Virgin "engineer" came over and fitted a transducer to the back of my modem to reduce the noise levels and its been considerably better since.

I can now check my noise levels (Telewests original commissioned rates were +/- 6dB, mine was -20dB) by entering the IP address of my modem (along with a default username and password which Virgin provided me with) and interrogating it, Im guessing you can do a similar thing with Sky? May be worth a call if nothing else.

I am also assuming ADSL (which is what Sky is at its BT?) and my Virgin Medai cable service work in very similar ways? No idea  :undecided:
