My new steel grey toy!
« on: 01 May 2010, 15:48 »
Picked it up on the 17th of april and absolutely love it, the grey isn't to everyones taste but love the way it seems to change colour slightly in different lights, i had a steel grey mk5 before this but the new paint seems a bit deeper with more pop in the sun, i was all for just having the standard 17's in the beginning but i'm pleased with the shadows and they really look the nuts on this colour! imo cos i know that not everyone likes em. i went for the rcd 510 more for the appearence than the function but love the way it works, it's a peice of cake finding tracks and albums on my memory stick. I decided against the acc in the end but the jury is still out on that! i find it a bit choppy on the m'way but it's fine for the twisty roads, i think time will tell though, i've got quite a few speed bumps round my way and it seems 'OK'. went for the rear view camera cos for £150 it seemed rude not to and it's a great piece of kit, i like the way it still see's quite well when it's dark which is really useful, it's got more than enough power for me coming from a 1.4s with 80 screaming horses so doubt i'll be looking at a map, i've got a couple of gripes with it but i'll post about that in the other thread, photo's are from my phone so not the best and i'm no photographer so soz.
Enjoy.......Hopefully

And i tried something a bit different with the inserts, what ya think?

I was getting really worried as you seemed to suddenly disappear.
You could have been dead and we would never would have known.
There must be a mechanism for forum members to be kept aware of this!

Anyway, back to the matter of slightly greater importance than your wellbeing!
Your car looks beautiful.
Congratulations!
I hope you have many exciting jaunts with it.

Love the pictures even though you so bashfully admonish yourself on your photography.
Now what's that under the inserts of your seat adjuster levers? Are you trying to trick us with the tartan underlay?

Don't disappear again as I do miss your amusing posts and our banter!

Thanks am1w for the nice comments and the concern for my wellbeing (i think), i'll remember to let you know if away in future!
The inserts are actually the image from this thread http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=138111.0 shrunk down and lightened a bit, then printed and cut to fit.

Fantastic colour. Seems like the Monza Shadows were designed for that colour. And the photos aren't too bad either.

I do quite like where you went with the GTI inserts. It's original and fresh. I just fitted mine today with the red tape underneath (but my car is red).

Looks good in that colour. Steel Grey or Silver were the two colours I was interested in before I ordered mine

Not sure it would make much difference tbh mate, although i am seriously tempted by the LED's it's just that gap at the bottom people keep mentioning thats putting me off :undecided:.

I am having mine sprayed Gun Metal Grey when the Honda(!) Bodyshop manager gets round to colour matching it.
Yes, the 2 mm gap has put me off completely. Better to spend money on Bi-Xenons. I have removed my front retro-fit ones as they did not look quite right. No cost penalty!
I will speak to Darren about the Bi-Xenons. He can probably fit them whilst doing my RNS510 + Bluetooth.
It never seems to end.
