you need to remove the metal part of of your EGR pipe

plug it and cable tie it out of the way

That pipe you're on about is the quickest way to get an EGR delete lol  Just by removing it and plugging it will stop the EGR working but you're still left with the restrictive pipe

urm think it was about 2 weeks.  I remember waiting longer than I was hoping for 

Just don't do what I did and only blank off the flexi pipe - you'll end up in limp mode thinking your turbo has bit the dust 

Fit the blanking plate to the exhaust manifold as per the instructions - I ran out of time during my lunch break so fitted it to the flexi pipe which subsequently flexed and broke clean in two

Looks like a nice cheap and effective mod may give this a go
