New polo gti open for ordering
« on: 30 April 2010, 18:11 »
The all-new Polo GTI is now open for ordering. It promises to be the fastest, sharpest and cleanest performance Polo yet produced, with an output of 180 PS at 6,200 rpm and 184 lbs ft of torque from 2,000 rpm. This allows the 1,269 kg Polo GTI to accelerate from rest to 62 mph in 6.9 seconds before reaching a top speed of 142 mph, yet it is still capable of delivering 47.9 mpg* on the combined cycle while emitting just 139 g/km of CO2*.

*official CO2 and fuel economy data is still subject to confirmation.

In brief
On sale now
Deliveries expected in July
1.4-litre TSI engine producing 180 PS and 184 lbs ft
7-speed DSG as standard
3dr from £18,275
5dr from £18,875

Technical details and specification
The TSI engine is linked to a compact seven-speed, twin-clutch DSG gearbox that channels drive through the front axle. In addition, the Polo GTI is fitted with the XDS differential, an electronic cross-axle traction control system for improved traction and handling, as on the Golf GTI and GTD. The XDS system is a functional extension of the electronic limited-slip differential (EDL) which is a part of the standard ESP system.

To sharpen responses, the Polo GTI is fitted with new springs and dampers that give it a 15 mm lower ride height than the conventional Polo.

Like its Golf GTI sibling, the Polo GTI features significant aesthetic changes. A new front bumper featuring a deep airdam is joined by a honeycombe grille complete with horizontal red strips and a simple GTI badge, and new headlight units with the option of LED running lights built in.

Further back, a subtle sill extension wraps around the lower edge of the body while at the back a new rear bumper features a small diffuser and a pair of chrome-tipped exhausts. The Polo badge is replaced by a simple ‘GTI’ badge.

Finally, a set of 17-inch wheels identical to those fitted to the Golf GTI are fitted along with a set of red brake calipers.

The changes continue inside the Polo GTI with new dials, a new, flat-bottomed GTI steering wheel complete with small gearshift paddles and contrasting red stitching, aluminium pedals and new, heavily bolstered front seats finished in tartan trim. Subtle gloss black trim covers the centre console while the headlining is also finished in black.

19K ouch.
I hope the panel fit is better than all the polos i have seen pre PDI and even quite a few post PDI. The bonnet fit is dismal to say the least!
The paint finish is no better, infact its worse, than the mk6 golf which is very bad!
I think other brands in the VW group ie the Ibiza cupra or Fabia vRS are better built cars maybe they lack the polo's touchy feel interior plastics but VW has gone way down hill on important stuff.

yeah each model gets bigger each time.

I think it'd be good.

a 1.4supercharged engine producing nice figures and yet still very good miles per gallon..... It'l fly off the production lines.

Black 8v GTI............. Whats a Waffle Valve?
