best windscreen water replant?

basically my windscreen smears with the wipers on(wipers are fine) i think theres some sort of oily residue on the windscreen so any recomendations on sorting this?

Does this really work Dan? The only time I have heard of this is at paintball to stop the masks steaming up.

I would have thought IPA would sort it out but I'm interested to hear if the fairy liquid works  :smiley:

Water repellant, wouldn't that be something like Rain-X?

Have used that before and if you put about 3 good coats on you may not even have to use your wipers, deffo not on the motorway.

Or is it just to get the oily resdue off, in which case i've used Autoglym glass cutter before followed by glass polish. My windows looked completely transparent after that but then lost interest in detailing.

it will get rid of any grease or whatever it is thats making his screen smear, and as mentioned ipa would work also. plus the washer bottle may need cleaning out.

How long are the wipers ment to last anyway? ive got bosch all around. had them for 2 years now

As above I think I'd wash, clean and polish the glass with a detergent & a glass polish. 

Then seal it (as per your thread title) with a rain repellant like Rain X or another glass sealant.
