Evo,

I think you'll find that the 7-speed DSG is going into the GTI, GTD and R, VW just hasn't confirmed when. I had heard it was May, which seems to align with reports of other Week 22 mods. Given how new the R is, perhaps they've decided to wait until it has been out a bit. Whenever the new DSG box comes, it should deliver even better economy for hi-speed motorway cruising.

One other thing...

VW told me in January that they were working on on an upgraded OEM phone unit for the RNS510. This will enable a wider range of smart phones to work with it better.

Hopefully I'll have moved onto the RS3 by the time they stick the 7-speed DSG in. You can't hang around waiting forever...

Nothing on the list i would want anyway.
The GTI LEDs unless they have changed them from the optional GTI ones in Germany are too light red for my liking.

I agree. The light red GTi LEDs would look 'not nice' stuck on Wolfgang's pretty little arse!

Hill Hold might have been useful as it is not very expensive. However, no one at the dealership had any idea how it worked with a manual gearbox. Typical! It might be available as a retro-fit item too?

I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that it would probably be best to stick with the 'iconic' Golf tail lights for the time being!

How is Vicky. Have you finished lubing her?

 Front and rear arches done. Just the underneath to spray after i service the compressor and i can be bothered to do it.
I don't think the bright red LEDs would work well on the shadow blue. Im not sure the dark R ones do.

EDIT
also

As for hill hold never found the need. I can normally control with handbrake and clutch/throttle as its a manual.
I do seem to have an issues in stop start traffic with the manual gearbox/clutch/floor hindged throttle with what feels like a defined notch/step at the top of the clutch pedal movment. Every so often i seem to not be able to control throttle/clutch and have kangaroo'ed more than once :embarassed: normally 1 in 20 times :embarassed: embarassed

Hill hold for a manual??

Whatever next.

Does that mean there will be a special driving test soon without a hill start and you get a special licence like an automatic test???

Im guessing these are the GTI LEDs the UK will be getting ie the optional ones overseas for the GTI (less darkened than the R ones)

VW always upgrades its models (and its prices) on May 1. Incorporating the must-have LED rear lights will be hidden somewhere in the price hike. There's no such thing as a free lunch.

As for hill start control, this is standard fit on my Transit van (!) and really isn't that exciting.

So Hill Hold not worth getting?
What's happened to your beautiful signature?
I agree with you, there won't be such a thing as a 'free lunch' especially from VW!

Most of the revision changes sound good, especially the rear LED's, but what's this Hill Hold all about? I've got a handbrake, clutch and accelerator that does that quite nicely when coordinated properly.

Im still trying to figure out how the hill hold works on a manual car if you don't have an electronic handbrake. Anyone want to let me know. (Watch it be in the manual  )
