Cheap loud induction kit? How to de-oil filter?

Hi guys, looking for a half decent cheap induction kit that will give me a bit of noise, also how do u go about de-oiling a filter as I have heard that an oiled one can screw up your maf.

Any help would be great

Ebay CAI - £55. Filter comes un-oiled. I've had one fitted for nearly 2 years with no problems other than i need to replace the air filter as the original has gonne a bit crusty.

Stick to smoothing the airbox and using a Pipercross panel filter.

What engine do you have?

I had an eBay carbon universal jobby on for a few days. Was definitely loud.

Yeah loads of turbo spool and loud DV noise. Going to order a green cotton replacement filter, for one the right size it comes to about £70 - will be ordering mine next month probably.

Also it came with a fairly cheap rubber coupling hose to join the alloy pipe to the MAF which is fine, but i've just ordered a good quality silicone replacement today so it fits in with my blue hoses

Best to spend a little extra on pipercross or K&N. They will last alot longer and be better for your car.

Put some ICI Genclean in a bucket, cold, and dip filter in if it is oiled.
Also tricoethylene if you can source some.. (probably not though anymore, lethal stuff  )
Did it with my ebay special just to make sure..

There's nothing at all wrong with the e-bay CAI's. i've had one for nearly a year I think. Only think is it's a bit dirty where it sits behind the bumper.

+1 - They seem to get bad press for no apparent reason other than they came off eBay. Yeah the filter isn't a known brand but it does the job. I always planned on replacing the filter with a green cotton one after a while as barry-gti said above, they do tend to get dirty due to their location behind the bumper.

It's worth the £55 for the CAI kit purely for the alloy relocation pipe!
