2.0L 8v
« on: 05 August 2003, 23:53 »
Hi there, Was just wondering what engine would be most suitable to put in a mk2, I know they come in mk3's and some audi's but i was wondering whether any of them were de-tuned ??

Hope you lot are more useful than clubgti, all i got off most of them was a load of crap

Cheers,
 Liam

Main thing with fitting a 2.0 8v in your mk2 is that it only makes 115bhp as standard. a 1.8 8v from a mk2 GTI gives 112bhp and is a lot easier to beef up BHP wise. Probably be cheaper as well if you can find a 1.8 8v.

No there not de tuned as such, you can have them chipped etc. My M3 8v is standard having only done 50k and it struggles to get past saxo's!! Never would have happened in my MK2 and certainly never hapens in my 1.9 MkK1 ;D

hmmm, sum fiddling wiv the ecu might solve it ? initial plan was 2l8v on throttle bodies and maybe a supercharger, or will i get more out the 1.8 8v ?
