1995 golf gti

right ive had this car few months now just wanted to no if there is anything that i should do as im the new owner like what you would do if you lot brought a golf first things that you would do to yours with out fail what to check and what stuff i should change have done a search but not a great deal on basic stuff to do with it i.e filter, oil change stuff like that as this is my first golf just would like to no so i can look after it a bit thanks in advance.

p.s this site has been a massive help with out id be lost

Have a general check over it, particularly around the rubber bungs underneath as they usually rust here. Note the condition of everything, make sure everything works and doesnt need immediate attention and then give it a good service - oil and filters at the very least, then you know where you stand with it. Oh, check the condition of the cambelt too! I also find that washing the car myself lets me keep an eye on everything bodywork wise!!

yeah i always wash it im going to change oil and filter soon also got to look into a few noises that a rattle when i change gear from time to time sometimes it holds back at around 4k for a few seconds like ive got no power then speeds back up and a very strange noise at slow car park speeds when i turn steering wheel like a creaking noise i guess it is but power steering fluid is full there wasnt hardly anything with it just mots and alarm receipts so becus its a old car the people who had it before me might have change nothing so next month ill get it all sorted out first golf but do like it

nah i wouldnt say theres anything major with it and i think it was a bargain only paid 500 pound for it and the inside of it looks like its just rolled out on a 10 plate lol

Ahh thats easy enough to sort though mate and doesnt have to be as perfect as the proper outside! :smiley: :wink:

hello. . .

do a major service as you dont know the history

all fluids. ..  filters... spark plugs.... dizzy.. rotar arm.

clean thottle body...

all belts. . and def the cam belt as you dont know the history!


then take it from there. . . might seem alot to do or pricey but could save in the long run matey.  :cool:
