Oil is starting to boil!
« on: 28 November 2004, 18:37 »
hi all,

hope somesome might be able help, was happily driving along the other day when all of a sudden the temp gauge started rapidly moving towards to 130C mark, i eased back and it started to cool, if i sped up the same thing happends.

My car is due a service and its heading into the Stealership this week, I'm going ask them to look at the problem but any advice would be helpful.

I'm thinking its either my oil is past its best, or one of the sensors is playing up??

Cheers

Phil

how many miles has your car done ? im thinking water pump... but you might be lucky, could be just a sensor.

Hang on a second... you talking about coolant temperature ? (the gauge on the dash that usually sits about 90) or have you got an oil temp gauge installed on a VDO or something ?
I'm guessing coolant, and still sticking with the waterpump theory, but you're still under warranty so its no biggie ??

yes the coolent temp,,,,,,,was sitting at 90C now everytime Iput my footdown it creeps up to 120-130C, then if i ease back, the temp drops!

its going into VW tomoz i'll post the fix,,,,,,,along with that,, i've got an Engine error code light on, the Esp light is on and wont turn off, plus it needs a service

Great!!!!!!

Seems that way...I had my car "revo'ed" a few months back and it used to fly.......performance has not been so good over the last few weeks.

Now that the MAF has been replaced, it goes like a rocket again back up to 220bhp.....fantanastic!!!!!!
