Hey

How easy is it to install a sunroof? what would i need?
Basicly my car has a aftermarket sunroof installed an the motor has gone decided to see if a VW one would work and it does but dont fit flush so thinking of dumping the one i have for original?
I guess the frame will be stuck on any tips on getting it out?

also i need at a guess

sunroof
motor - got
switch - got
loom

anything else?

You are aware that the sunroof bolts to the roof itself? And non-sunroof cars don't have the bolt holes?

If your current aftermarket sunroof is what I think it is and was fitted after the car was made then it sounds like one of those "cut a hole, plonk sunroof in, done" jobs

As above you would need to change the complete roof if it is an aftermarket sunroof.

but is it worth it really??

When you can just open the window??, the sunroof doesnt do that much anyway.

I don't know how you can say the sunroof doesn't do anything, lets just all remember that heat rises...

well it would be worth it as i have a non working sunroof and thats just daft lol
i found a replacement motor and it £135  :rolleyes:

i can get the original sunroof for £30ish complete with everything
unless of course you guys know how to repair plastic cogs or know a man that will make them in copper for next to nothing

The easiest way of doing it would be to sell your car and buy a car with a proper sunroof :grin:

I would never buy a car with an aftermarket sunroof, you just know that it's going to leak and if it goes wrong then you're going to struggle to find replacement parts
