SPOTTED! M6 northbound.
« on: 24 April 2010, 13:04 »
Just spotted a dragon green mk3 bombing it up the outside lane of the m6 northbound near Blackburn/burnley. I only got a glimpse but pretty sure it had golfgti.co.uk stickers in it!

Got to start negotiating with the insurance company next week. I want to have it back but depends what they ask for it. I can source the parts required for 35 quid so would not cost much to repair. We'll have to wait and see  :sad: :sad:

You should be able to buy it back for around £200

My dad had a 1.8 GL a few years ago which got scraped down the passenger side by a minibus. The insurance company were going to write it off, when all it needed was a wing and a door. He bought the car back for £200, and they gave him £600 to repair the car. He bought a door and a wing for £50, bought the paint for £50, and got them both sprayed locally for £50. Which left him £450 so he bought some hella quads and a set of alloy wheels :grin:

Then a year or so later, an uninsured tw@t in a Mitsubishi Shogun went into the back of him at 30mph whilst he was stopped at a red traffic light which wrote the car off! The insurance company gave him £600 for the car and £2000 in compensation

The best part is he only paid £300 for that car - And I removed all the mods before the insurance company collected it, so he bought a VR6 and put all his good bits on that :cool:
Gone but not forgotten;

Friday morning I was all set to let the insurance company have it but then spent the morning putting the original wheels back on it and the original headlights and fog lights/indicators and the badged grille. When all put back together I gave it a good clean as the insurance company wanted pictures of the car to value it (they couldn't be arsed to send out an assessor). After all this I thought how nice it looked and want to keep it. It wants a few jobs doing but I will buy another Golf with the insurance money and some savings and then do this one over a couple of months. Like you Mate there is no way I am letting the insurance company have the parts which cost good money. This is the car now:

Will keep you informed as and when they make an offer.

Just a thought but has your insurance policy come into mind?
I assume its only insured as the standard car without the mods anyway right?

No Mate     All mods were declared but I am not going to let the insurance company have it with the wheels and lights on it. They are worth more to me than any salvage company. I have left it lowered and with my Scooby seats in as I can't be arsed to take the lowering springs off and have not got the standard front seats anymore. Not worth trying to con an insurance company Buddy.
