any ideas??

does anyone have any idea what the wire does which is bolted halfway up the front of the block just left of the coolant pipe on an 8v digifant PB  engine,the misses has corroded through on her car no idea what it does but nothing seems to happen/stop working when disconnected..and does any1 have an undamaged one for sale cheers

if its nice thick cable its probably the earth.neutral strap but normally the engine wont run without it attached unless its getting a good contact elsewhere can lead to battery not charging correctly and engine cutting out for no reason.

yep thats what I thought but the wire is attached to like a small block which is bolted to the side of the engine block the outer part of the wire is copper (which has corroded through) and inside this there are 2 wires one yellow and one white (undamaged ) just looks a bit more important than earth

strange just out of curiousity is it bolted on and all the wires are together or is there a plug that the 2 wires go onto, like with spade connectors etc..

yes the block is bolted to the engine (the wires are molded into this)with an 8mm bolt the main wire plugs into a connector around the dizzy area usual type of connector push the metal clip to release jobbie
yes the wires were all together and rubber insulated

think i know what you mean if its to the left of the dipstick behind the the alternator its a temperature sender its a black plug with a bolt through the middle.

np as to what it does i have no clue lol but its called engine warm-up valve in the haynes.

its a knock sensor, apparently they aint cheap to replace but are quite necessary

might be the same thing i just looked at the haynes book and thats what it called it. although that dam book is confusing sometimes or maybe its me.
