Run your finger over them and its a fine powder.

 You have just scratched your clearcoat!

Strange, cant see a thing. Exactly what type of scratch should I be expecting from powder ?

From what I've heard there is some rougher grit type sh!t comes down with it. But what I have felt is nothing but extremely fine power. If there's a risk of scratching so be it, I've seen nothing and if there is I'll use my Das-6 Pro and Blast the ba5tards away.

Will get the very articulate Polish hoseman at the dealership to properly douse it down tomorrow. This will really wind-up the Workshop Foreskin. Then I'll do the rest, maybe. Or maybe I'll wind up the Foreskin even more by making the Pole keep cleaning the car for at least an hour! I've already complained about Foreskin Hitler and I have been assured of a personal service by the Big Boss! Tomorrow 9.15am for the fun and games. Just shows I am a sad, evil and bored individual.

Kev, it's simple: every time you touch the car, you will leave scratch marks on it. They may not be visible to the naked eye, but the are there. And rubbing or even running your finger lightly along the body is 10 times worse

Personally, I have found that a bit of hard rubbing 'along the body' works wonders!

I totally screwed up and took the new mk6 to one of them imo drive through car washes - thought that at least they hand wash it first - not got some fine scratches on the door \ and hatch back bit. Didn't notice at first until sun hit the side of the car and saw them - Bollocks! Ok - I'm a numpty -

Might try to fix myself - got scratch-x 2.0 and lot's of elbow grease at the ready - but might try a detailer I found with their own place in north wales that I might give a go -they're also an authorised Autoglym toughcoat or what ever it's called (the one that comes with the 10 year stamp).
Going to see what the bill is for them to fix and the treat the car. i.e give it the full 9 yards going over.
Well earnt my lesson well.

Dont use the Scratch X its a waist of money, just pay a proffesional detailer get the job done right!! Have a look in the detailing section contact Guy or Dan they will point you in the right direction. The dreaded car wash's will finish your paint work off, just do it yourself peice of mind!!

It happens again to us in the Southeast tomorrow.
Had a horrible time cleaning the car the last time as we all did on our street.
Trying to find a garage but had not much luck at the present.
Bugger.

Thanks Steve30 - left a post in the detail forum and got some good recomendations and also to cross check a local one to see if any good etc.

Detailing sounds very complex \ hard work. Almost fell over when told they had a wax that could be used on my car for... wait for it....... about £8500 and it's rubbed on by hand.
For that I'd want claudia schiffer to be the one applying it
