Intermittant Wipe? Not on mine...
« on: 25 November 2004, 16:20 »
Hiya,? I've got a very late Mk3 (as per sig) and I can't vary the intermittant wiper speed.? I know how to do it, I've had 3 of these cars before, but its not on this one.

Is this speed adjusted by a special relay?? Its going to have some sort of timer circuit built in using the switching of the wiper arm to tell the circuit the end of the required cycle of intermittant wipe...If that makes sense ???  I have got a fixed time of intermittant wipe but I cannot vary it at all.

Any help is appreciated

Not sure how it works mate, i know you can change the speed of the intermittent wipe, cant remember how!  You got a haynes manual to look at?  If not I will dig mine out and have a look for you!

As far as Mine goes (VR6) you have to press the wiper arm down, wait till the wipers wipe, pull it up to normal position again and then push back down again.  This makes the already intermittent wiper speed faster.

Not sure if this is what you wanted!  If it is :)

Thanks for those answers, but, I know how to get it to change speed the problem is it won't do it. ???

I wondered if it was a relay problem or something built into the wiper motor???

i have this problem on mine, but often the intermittant doesnt work at all or does what it likes. Can sometimes sort it by cleaning the actual stork, where it disappears into the dash (blowing all the crap out).
