Rant (no other reason)
« on: 19 April 2010, 21:02 »
Good evening

For the last couple of months, I have waited for a mate to send me some rear hoses for my rear disc conversion.

During that time, I have managed to gather all the parts I need, calipers, handbrake cables, discs, pads, stub axels, bearings etc.  :nerd:

I couldn't afford new/re-built calipers , so brought a kit from flea-bay and rebuilt them, only one seal missing in the kit, but apart from that, OK.  Stripped, de-rusted and cleaned all the second hand stuff, it looked all good to go, even greesed the bearings, and wrapped them up, so it would be a case of just popping everything on.  :nerd:

I spent all my time doing stuff for other people, over the bank holiday weekends etc.

To day I was preparing a mates race car, trying to loose 50kg!!! from it.  (I think fatty will have to go on a diet, there is only so much you can strip from a MX5...)  :smug:

The sun was shining and I thought, WTF am I doing here, I'll go home with my new hoses and get my Golf all sorted for the summer.

Battery flat as a witches t*t.  Alarm went off, wouldn't turn off.
Got her running, spent  the afternoon doing a disc conversion, made the new rear copper brake pipes (three times on the O/S as I kept measuring it wrongly, but only discovering after fitting the most difficult end...)
Eventually got it all together, after requesting the assistance of God (I'm not religious...)

Jo (my wife) came home and helped me bleed the brakes, after it had started to rain... And a puddle appeared under the bleed bottle.  This was a puddle of brake fluid.  After much tracing, it was coming (in a jet) from the little hole in the top of the piston, which is behind the only seal the brake caliper seal kit did not come with.
FOR F**K SAKE, HOW FU*KING HARD CAN IT BE, I DIDN'T EVEN GET TO PUT MY POSH SUSPENSION ON!!!

Rant over, for the moment...

Gonna get some calipers from a shop, as I obviously can't be trusted.
