Is my car over heating :-/ 16V

Got my temp guage fixed today and i was wondering what you 16 GTI owners get temp wise on a hot day. Im worying there is somthing wrong with my 16V as at 12am going down the m3 at 80mph it was sat at half and not moving. At about 6pm i was in traffic and it was well over half about a 1/4 from the top :-/

The car runs like a dream just have trouble starting occasionally (see previous post)

So basically whats the norm for a 16V?

My 16v is nearly always sat at about half after about 15mins of driving. It does creep up to about 3/4s occasionally but never over that.

My needle seems to sit about half way when in traffic and the weather is hot, and has gone up to 115 once (started to worry at this point!).  When I'm doing 60 or 70 mph the guage sits at just over a quarter and reads around 90 on the computer.  It all seems weather dependant.

Sounds fine to me, especially in this weather, when you've got air at 30 degrees plus ,the radiators efficiency is going to greatly reduced.

Hello my 16v sits at halfway allday long even at 0430am when i go to work.  The oil temp has gone up the last three days. It now sits at 108-110 all the time even on the way to work. Not sure why, its not that hot at that time of morning.

I have a MK1 and it reads about 3/4 in traffic B4 the fan kicks inl, shouldnt worry about it mate..

only start to worry when the red light flashes and steam starts coming out from under your bonnet! can be a pain when in traffic! but its the best way to find out your radiator fan doesn't work ........... apparently! opps!
