I've just acquired this

and its the first watercooled car I've owned for several years now as I usually drive around in this

which for those who don't recognise the old aircooled dubs is a Type 4 or VW 412LE Variant fitted with a rear cooled 1.7 FI motor.
But that is going of on a tangent as this is a watercooled forum

I bought the Golf a couple of weeks ago and had to get it through its MoT, fix a couple of windows that wouldn't go up and down, change a couple of tyres and fix a cutting out when cold issue.
Thankfully the MoT was painless, just a small amount of welding to front NS strut tower. Apparently an unusual place to rot?
The windows just required a new mechanism for the drivers window and the rear NS a couple of cable ties to secure the cable to the slider.
Tyres are tyres so...
and the cutting out was crap in the throttle body.
All of these things are now done and I'm enjoying driving it whilst my 412 is off the road for some much needed to welding to the fresh air box.
