ello all
only had my gti 2 weeks and im having probelms allready :'(
well basically i went out on sunday morning to start her up to go to volksfest and drove down the road turn round and it conks out try and start and it wont fire call the AA and he recons the whole distributer unit is bust so he tows me to the nearest garage and i leave it there today to get it fix in the end they changed the "ignition module" and said it started before they fixed it and they had to send somone on a test drive until it broke down again they say this will fix the problem. The car does start but its hardley click of the fingers stuff its struggles the fires up once on teh move no worries. I also got them to look at my temp gauge as it was broken when i bought it going up and down like a yo yo showing red hot when ive just started from cold etc then dropping right down they fixed this saying it was a loose wire.
Anyways the problem is now i have a few more problems after its come out

Speedo now totally dont work then jumps to 40 there jitters about then drops to 0 just all over the place really is there anything they could have touched or moved by changing the ignition module? In turn this seems to have fecked my trip computer i have no oil reading at all and my miles per gallon is siklly like 3mpg or somthing and when the speedo is sat at 0 i get no readings at all
Number 2
Now my temp guage is fixed i have noticed the temp to be quite high i know today was hot but going down the motorway at 70 -80mph ( i think) at 12am and the temp guage is sitting at half is this normal? at about 6pm in traffic is was a 1/4 of the top fan works ok so im lost really
Other than this i love this car i just want it reliable it goes like stink once it gets going and im very impressed just wondering if these are comon faults
Anyways sorry the post is abit long but i thought i would ask the people in the know
