boot wont open

just tried to open the boot and it wont open?? you can hear the central lockin workin but pull the handle and nothin??any ideals on whats wrong and how i can open the boot?

is the handle locked down mate, may need to push it back. then lock and unlock again.

mine does this now an again keep trying with the lock unlock method

barrel has corroded which is what happened to mine

It also sounds like the micro switch has given up - give the handle area a bit of a thump and it may get it working temporarily

cheers Rhyso,hope it does the trick,hopefully gettin rid of it 2 moro,loved my mk2 gti"s and my mk3 16valver,but even though i love the look of the mk4 i personally think they are sh!t,handling,reliability.ive read vw found its way again with the mk5 so its time to save the pennys!!

Mine did this the other week.  I never use the key to unlock boot so only noticed when cleaning it there was all this white guff in the lock.  Tried key and it would not go in.  Kept spraying WD40 in there and trying the key, it eventually went in bit by bit and slowly able to turn, eventually unlocked with key again.  Jobs a goodun now
