Ponies and boost / rpm
Random run through gears showing boost / time

i'd say that looks about spot on. The boost may look a bit erratic in the through-gear runs but that's exactly what it's supposed to look like.

What about the lack of spiking in the actual boost toph? Normal?

standard cars don't really spike too much, but the request is there to get the turbo going
it's kinda sad just how familiar looking those graphs are to me actually

I see, so the car doesn't always get what it wants? The two figures should not match?

open the csv files in a program like excel (expensive) or openoffice scalc (free)
there are gadgets out there that convert stuff straight to charts for you, but i do it manually as it doesn't take long and can cut out a few random errors.

basically yes. i'm not 100% on all the reasons for it.. i just recognise it. The turbo can only spool so fast, so requesting a lot by spiking "prepares" the engine/turbo or something, and determines how the turbo behaves once on song, to keep things smooth. VW try to keep turbo cars feeling like naturally aspirated cars in their engine maps, because they have no sense of fun, because they're German.
