hey people, i have a 95 vr6 highline with the most iritating whistle.
car idles fine seems to have very smooth power outlay howver when steadily accelerating between 1800rpm and 2300rpm there is a whistling sound. dont know if its just in my head but i thinks the engine pulls slightly different when this happens also.
have checked all the pipework and can see no splits. what i think is called the crankcase breather seems ok as well (apparently these are known to crack) - is that an inline non return valve? if it is i dont think mine worked as i could blow through it both ways when i was cleaning it.
i did take all the airintake pipework off gave it a good clean on the inside and the crankcase breather got a clean aswell
was wondering if the isv could be the problem or isv damper.
running standard air box with piperx panel filter
the isv- how do you clean these?
the damper seems fine took it off didnt notice any cracks heatshield is still attached and sponge still on th inside. placed hand over one hole and blew down the other no sign of any air getting out, however when damper is on the car and engine running idle you can hear it in use but if you gently clasp your hand around it there is a definate sound difference a bit like an air leak but as i say when under close inspection there are no cracks.
has anyone else experienced this whistle before.
any suggestions welcome. thanks
