Get some one to crank it and see if the injector is squirting petrol in there...  and/or crank it and use some petrol in a spray bottle, spray it into the T/B, if she fires with it... its lack or fuel/to much air  If it starts and runs fine by its self after you helping it... who knows 

Is everything reconnected and all pipes put back in,  i know there are a few down the back of the tb, one little one thats easy to forget.

Easy way to check the injectors - get an LED test light (not a test LAMP - you can damage the ECU with those).  Put it across the injector terminals one by one - see if it flashes when cranking?

The injectors should have +12v on one of the pins and nothing on the other one. The ECU switches the other pin to ground to make the circuit. I.e.



(from MegaSquirt manual - as good a car ECU reference as you'll likely find!)

Mine was doing this. wouldn't start unless I bumped it. It done this for day's would try evreyday hoping it would start, gave up on that. went to it a few days later and it started first time and has been fine ever sinse

Thank you all vey much for the help.

I got my boss and mate round we solved the problem. We were all getting very frustrated with it then me mates gone "I dissconnected this, and thi.... OH sh!t!"

The car caught light AGAIN!

No, fire wasn't the solution...

The connections on the SPI had all f**ked off, ignition was on (oops) and the connections bridged and set the thing alight. Had a mini fire extinguisher though, safety first kids.

So just having dinner and going to put a new connector on.

Nope.

The issue I'm having now is what wire goes where. There are four on the SPI unit.

They've all come out and got mixed up.

Hoping someone can get a photo of it. Need someone with an SPi later Golf.....

IT'S RUNNING!

My mate got some info somehow on it, I phoned VW:

Him - "Hi VW technical support"
Me- "Hi I've got this MK3 need SPi wiring blah blah blah"
Him - "That's too technical for me can't help you there"
