About your question:...(in the Netherlands) insurance policy state that when the car is not retrieved in say 30 days you get the amount of money to buy a new one...normally this is the best option...
In your case it is obviuosly debatable due to ordertime

....if the car is found within the period of time, but damaged, you are only entitled to argue only about the way they solve the problems and if it is solved correctly.....
Mind you I heard from experience that if there is damage they solve it first class....including e.g. professional cleaning...
