Bit of advice needed....
« on: 13 April 2010, 17:39 »
Gunna give the car a real good clean one day next week so need some advice on what products to get. I'm gunna start by washing it. What should I get for a general wash? From what I've picked up by reading the forum Dodo Juice seems to be the best stuff. Is there any particular one which is better for silver cars? I'm gunna buy the megs quik detailing clay kit and give it a good once over after a wash. Should I then wash the car again before apply the final stage? The final stage would be one of the following, wax/polish/sealant. As I can only afford to get one of them at the moment what is the best one to start with?

You should give the car a polish after the second wash (post claying) and then apply your last stage protection (sealant/wax) after this.

I use Dodo Juice Purple Haze wax on my car, but I have a black car. Dodo Juice Light Fantastic would be more suitable for your car as its designed for light coloured cars, I haven't tried it myself but the Dodo Juice range seems to be highly thought of.

cheers mate, I think I'll get the clay kit and a good wax as I already have some mer polish (which is a pain in the arse to use!)

My basket on waxamomo reads like this at the moment:

    Meguiar's Quik Clay Detailing System

Dodo Juice Born To Be Mild - 250ml

    Dodo Juice Light Fantastic

    Meguiar's Soft Foam Applicator's

I already have wash mits and microfibre towels so hopefully this little combo should bring the paint back to life!

Basket is looking good

Just a quick one on your method, it's not wax/polish/sealant, it's polish/wax/sealant(or 2 layers of wax)

Can't afford to get polish wax and sealant so gunna use the mer polish I have for now. I'll add to that the light fantastic wax and save up for some better polish and a sealant.

Placed my order for the above bits so can't wait to see what difference these products will make. Just so I can let the guy's in the warehouse know roughly when will I get my order waxamomo?
